Chagalls, Prague

Mushroom risotto was awesome . . .

Mrs had the mesclun salad with goat cheese . . .

We both had the Ryzlink Lassky for our starter and for our Marseilles Bouillabaise . . . we had walked by some restaurant that was closed that advertising bouillabaise, and so we were hot for it, then there it was! at Chagalls! Nice presentation. The aioli was a nice touch, too. . .

I had the fish of the day, which was some sort of seabream, lovely & delicate . ..

Mrs had the supreme of corn chicken with asparagus . . .

reliable excellence and we can sit outside now!

Orange Moon, Flora Food Court, Prague

not the best, but not-bad, and so close we wind up going there when time & convenience are a consideration . . .

shrimp tempura are kinda heavy in the batter . . . good fried prawns, just not faboulous tempura, if you see how I mean . . .

mrs had the tom yum kai, which only falls short in comparison to Siam Orchid . . . .

then we had some beef stir-fry with rice. . . very spicy, very good . . .

Hajtzmansky Dvur Hotel Restaurant, Slany, CZ, Denni Menu

brambory polevka, potato soup; vyborne, excellent

very ordinary chicken noodle soup for Mrs . . .

kachna stehno, duck leg, with red cabbage and knidlihy . . . it was good, even very good,  but I think it thru off my golf game . . . 8^D . . . a little too heavy for a pre-round lunch . . .

an ordinary grilled chicken salad . . .

Lichfield Restaurant, Hotel Augustine, Prague (nee Monasterio)

Mother's Day . . . 8^)

Started off with a maly pivo of St Tomas, for which the Monasterio was famous . . . goooooood . . . .
while we looked over the menu . . . an easy choice: we elected the Asparagus Menu .  ..

Then a glass of prosecco while we waited for our starters . . .

I had white aparagus soup with grilled scallops . . .

Mrs had a salad with white asparagus . . .

Mrs had prague ham with white asparagus  . . . tres elegante' . . . with a Ryzlink Lassky

I veered off the asparagus menu for some lamp choops with peppercorn sauce, it comes with fries on the side, but I wanted to plate it . . . so as far as the photo goes, kinda of a goof, but as far as the dining went . . . dynamite . . .and I gots to have a new zealand shiraz with my lamb when I can get it . . .

for desert we split the white asparagus & white chocolate. . . one of those things that starts slowly with trust & restraint, and ends up in some sort of frenzied blood sport . . . 8^D

Mozaika, Prague

Mrs disdained her favorite of nori-wrapped salmon with ginger on wasabi mashed potatoes in favor of this alternative: tuna on ratatouie. . . she said it was an excellent substitution . . . 8^)

I had the pork neck sous vide on cabbage with potato gnocci . . . when I asked about the daily sous vide, the waitress smiled while she laid it out, "It's very good!", so I went with that . . .

Big Red, on her first trip to Mozaika, had the chicken over ratatouie . . . .even tho' she was famished from morning errands, she was sure that she could say objectively it was wonderful . . .

Mrs & I shared the chocolate mousse dusted with chopped pistachio on French vanilla. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Big Red had a Tarte Tatine . . . which is some sort of apple tarte, obviously, but we don't know what Tatine is, a chef or a restaurant or a type of apple . . . 8^D . . .

Hejtzmansky Dvur Hotel Restaurant, Slany, CZ

Very nice dining room . . . As if they have pretensions of quality to be surprisingly found 30 minutes outside of Prague . . .
Tried to order off the Asparagus Seasonal Menu . . .
The asparagus soup needed more asparagus and less cheese .  . .
The chicken stuffed with ham wrapped around asparagus was too salty, says Mrs . . . Even tho' it looks nice . . .
The beefsteak over white & green asparagus was ok . . . Not the very best cut of meat, and the sauce was a little too un-heinz-57-like, if you see how I mean . . .

Taverna Kyklades

this was one of the first place Nana & S-i-L took us to, years ago, in Astoria . . . there are so many great greek restaurants in Astoria now, so many great restaurants of all stripes now . . .sometimes we've had to wait almost an hour to get in at night, but at 2pm, we waltzed right in . . .

a classic greek salad . . . that speaks for itself photographically as well as Demosthenes . . .

I simply had fried shrimp . . . like the greek salad . . . from the Lombardi school of strategy: something simple done exceptionally well.

Nana had grilled octopus . . . another always-reliable at Kyklades

S-i-L had some fish plate . . . all I know is no matter what he orders, it's the best thing on the menu that day . . .8^) . . .

Mrs had a salmon steak . . . and by steak I mean porterhouse-sized . . .this thing was huge . . . I tho't there was no way she would finish it, but she did . . . 8^) . . .

we all had sides of rice or potatoes, but Mrs tried Horta, a sort of bitter spinach is the best way to put it . . . she said it was better with a little lemon squeezed on it . . . looks good-for-ya . . .

we get to NYC only rarely, and it's a shame to not try someplace different among so many possible excellent choices, but it is a shame also not to dine at Kyklades each time when such a sure-fire, automatic, gourmet meal is always at hand.

Da Vinci Deli, Old Lyme, RI

after the museum, we wanted to eat before we drove back to PVD . . . after some meandering, we wound up around the corner at Da Vinci Pizza, a hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-daughter operation . . . friendly, but not quite professional . . . lot of local walk-in traffic for pizza slices while we were there . . . my sandwich was unremarkable . . . not bad, tho' . . . the cheddar and horseradish chips were a hoot tho' . . . nothing else seemed blog-worthy . . .

Chili's, Warwick RI

after a week with our Two Year Old, he determined where we dined, some place we didn't care how they talked about us when we left, if you see how I mean . . . we still hoped for some measure of quality, tho' . . .
I had another Sam Addams Summer Seasonal ale, still good.
I had a SHiner Bock Sauce Burger . . . I can't say it's successful, but it may have just been the grey-ish burger, lacking the char one seeks on a burger, if you know what I mean . . . chips were good, tho' . . .
Mrs had a chicken salad . . . yawn . . .
Bitsy had a couple of sliders with fries . . . it looks as if her burgers were better cooked than mine . . . both she & mrs got tortilla soup with their meals . . . extinguished . . . if you see how I mean . . .
