Narodni Gallerie, Prague

we try to go once a year, whether we need to or not .. . .
museum is huge, collection is large, but it doesn't change as much as one would expect, even so, there are things we have overlooked that surprise us each visit . .  .
we like the Capek Theatre Costumes.
and of course, the instantly recognizable Matisse nude sketches . . . and I love Joaquina . . .
Kees von Dongen always interests us . . . one is not sure he actually is a major talent, but we always consider it, if you know what I mean . . . .8^) . . .
the Kamil Lhotak portrain of the young man reclining in the desert caught my eye this time . . . I think I remember ignoring it before . . .
this is only a detail from a V.V.Modry painting Childhood . . . not like my childhood is all I would say . . . it alway amazes me how an artist can render an image so small in so few strokes
Jan Bauch "Sirens" and "Circus Rider" arrested my development for a while . . . we walked past and admired, but it wasn't till we had circled back around, and saw from further away that I wanted the picture . . .
These two by Karel Cerny, "the Lovers" and "the Mourners" interested me . . . din't photo very well, but I assert, aside from the inherent value, that this Cerny must be related to David Cerny, which gives them an even more interesting value . . .
the hand puppets in an ocean is called Potato Theatre, by Toyen . . . weird . . .

Osteria de Clara

for valentines day dinner with Mrs.
we started off and stayed with a very fizzy prosecco.
for starters we had tuna tartare (very good) and bruschetta (ok).
for primi platter we had seafood pasta (very, very good) and pesto pasta (ok).
for secondi platter we had salmon filet (ok) and duck breast (tough as a mediocre piece of beef, and tasted beef-y, if you see how I mean) . . .

we like Osteria de Clara, and the staff is unfailingly sweet & polite, but since it is so small and so hard to get into (need a reservation), we expect it to be perfect when we get there . . . and it just isn't . . .

James Dean Café, Prague

American Style 50s diner, with authentic looking booths, tables, & accoutrement & decorations -- not to mention the cute-as-a-button waitresses in period costume . . . we go there for breakfast . . . they have lunch & dinner items, burgers, shakes and such, but till the horsemeat scandal dies down . . . if you know what I mean . . .

the american breakfast with american bottomless cup-of-coffee seems the way to go, but you can order a la carte, if you prefer . . . all good . . .

Le Patio, Prague

Grand Restaurant Week . . .
Sophia Smith is a chef of some renown here in prague . . .
I will testify to the excellence of the little dimsum . . .and the singapore chilli crab . . . the mango mess desert was meh, to me . . . maybe just suffered in comparison . . . those dimsum were slippery little boogers tho', we all had to disdain the chopstix in favor of forks . . . the crabs were huge, meaty, and spiced to a fair-the-well . . . fortunately they had armed us with a complete arsenal of crab-eating utensils . . . 8^D . . . and covered us up in bib-aprons . . . it was messy fun, for sure . . . then the chef gave us these little packets of chilli as she had used with the crab . . . you can tell it's excellent, and let me assure you when we made chilli prawn flambe with it this weekend the results were very good . . .

Mood Café, Prague

it bein' dead of winter in prague and all, we just hadda go have some BBQ ribs over at mood cafe . . .course, in the middle of summer, we would say,
it bein' the middle of a scorchin' summer in prague and all, we just hadda go have some BBQ ribs over at mood cafe . . . 8^D . . . .still the best outside of East Texas  . . . .SheSoMoney complained they weren't as good as KC BBQ Ribs, but i have learnt just to keep quite in the face of delusions of non texas BBQ afficionados . . . what can you do . . . 8^D . . . mrs had the consommee' as a starter, done expertly . . . Big Red & I split some chicken wings . . . they were good, but I'd get my own order if I realized there was only 6 pieces . . .Big Red had Pasta . . . I forget what kind, but she complained that whatever kind it was they left out everything but the pasta, if you see how she means . . .

Mozaika, Vinohrady, Prague

One of our perennial favorites, Mozaika, for the 3 plate, fixed price meal . . .

Mrs had broccoli soup, grilled salmon on rice, and ice-cream-fruit-cup . . .

I had chicken & mushroom quiche (like no other place in Prague), pork shoulder sous vide (which is why I love that place), and a classic creme brulee (they called it lavender brulee) . . .
