Beroun Golf Club Restaurant

So after my round, after the jacuzzi, after a couple of Big Bang Episodes, I said, I gotta have dinner . . . not just picnic . . . so we went down . . . Mrs just had a caesar salad . . . not too bad . . . jar dressing, natch . . . I had some beef steak on mashed potatos . . . I quite liked it as a very nice, not-too-huge-a-slab-of-beef, and reasonably well done - medium, I mean, not charred.

Breakfast OTOH, is a disappointment . . . 1 Eggs benedict (tho'we had ordered two AND LOOKIT, white bread, 1 egg (menu said 2) with a dab of bernaisse), two sorta-croissants, two fresh OJs, and 4 espressos = 545 KC, 25 US$ . . . . shudda been included in the room cost, I reckoned, but what can you do . . . but blog it . . .

Plagiarisms

I think, after racing thru the 7 stages of outrage, that I have been accessed (not to say victimized) by Philipino IT students practicing their web skills as a class project . . .

Quite by accident – I do not normally google myself – I have discovered two such instances, tho’ both are from 2006 . . .

The kids were probably even in the same class . . . 8^) . . .

If that is correct, I would hope that these 5th generation data processors were intrigued & entertained by my Memoirs from the 3rd Generation, and thus I would be gratified . . .

The web site is no longer up . . . I tho’t about reblogging it all again . . . it is so much trouble . . . if only I had an intern . . .

This one I found by googling one of my neologisms in an idle moment, pterymental

Memoirs of the 3rd Generation

"Perversity of inanimate objects" is a useful phrase I came across in the '70s, meaning for example, the life-like ability of car-keys to lose themselves.
Of course, computers are the ultimately perverse inanimate objects, notwithstanding HAL, TRON, DARYL, etc. The act of programming confers human like confusion upon the machines we call computers, but not actual animation.

This one I found by googling “Memoirs from the 3rd Generation”, since I had found the other . . .

When the Director of our department at the large financial services company was fired, we had a little going away party for him, at a restaurant near the office. Because I was a friend and golf partner, and, I suspect, because everyone else was afraid to speak, lest they would be fired, too, I made a little speech . . . .

Beroun Golf Resort

Saw where I could get on and play Beroun if I stayed in their hotel . . .
from the terrace . . .

view from the terrace . . .

 view from the terrace . . .

Oooh the pool was all glinty-sparkly, tho'the photo doesn't show up so well . . .

the room . . .
the bathroom . . .
spartan, clean, & large . . .
past the bed and the chairs is the other terrace, where the jacuzzi was . . .

they've got artwork all over the hotel, in the halls and lobby . . .
in the rooms, not so much . . . .

I gotta send this one to thisisnthappiness . . .
he loves that light bending wackadoodle.

this is nature's work . . .
if you look at the enlarged picture,
the gelded outline of the clouds just over the trees looks nice . . .
even better in reality

Black Dog Cantina, Beroun, The Czech Republic

Mrs picked this place up from Trip Advisor . . . http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g676767-d2706313-Reviews-Blackdog_Cantina-Beroun_Central_Bohemian_Region_Bohemia.html . . .which, after the Best Pizza In America Debacle (San Diego & Ucccch, Las Vegas?) I was skeptical, if not actually outright suspect, that it was over-rated . . .

MUST Admit, their choices of burgers available are simple & complete, and the execution is pretty flawless, IMVHO.

Guacamole (Domici, home-made) was great . . . not as good as Mrs'Famous Guacamole, but nice, nonetheless . . . 8^) . . .

I got some kind of taco with beef chunks and mexican spicing I havent encountered very often, if ever . . . they were a mess to eat, but kinda fun that way, too, if you know what I mean . . . maybe Czech / Mexican Fusion Quisine is reaching Critical Mass . . . 8^0 , , , 8^D . . . oh, it just occurs to me that Czech-Mex musta already been invented once, In Texas . . . so . . . yeah . . . maybe . . .
For Chicken Fried Steak, Wikipedia.org:

History[edit source | editbeta]

The precise origins of the dish are unclear, but many sources attribute its development to German and Austrian immigrants to Texas in the 19th century, who brought recipes for Wiener Schnitzel from Europe to the USA.[1] Lamesa, the seat of Dawson County on the Texas South Plains, claims to be the birthplace of chicken fried steak, and hosts an annual celebration accordingly.[2] John "White Gravy" Neutzling ofBandera in the Texas Hill Country also claims to have invented the dish.[3]

We both added Valentina sauce to our satisfaction . . . Mrs bot another whole bottle for gift for a friend . .. .
The Valentina is a brand of pourable hot sauce manufactured by the Salsa Tamazula, company of Guadalajara, in western Mexico.

Gazpacho. Good, but not as good as Mrs Famous. . . not as spicy

some kind of pike-perch - not exactly, wasn't clear - with some barley side dish . . . whatever kind of fish this is, we don't like it, no matter how well it is served.

Flank steak . . . would have been just fine , if it hadn't been so hot . . . just was more red-meat than I really felt like . . . no hambruger on the menu . . . I guess that marks it as a really posh resort, very nice indeed, but harrumph . . . I really enjoyed the toast, OTOH . . . 8^)

Many examples of the hunting lodge aspect . . . .

 Goulash Soup, very good
 Goulash proper, even better . . .
 Plain green salad for Mrs. . . no problem . . .
my duck . . . oddly cut, hacked in square, instead of jointed . . . so bits of bone kept interfering with my enjoyment . . . I love red cabbage, this was not the best I ever had. . . knidlihy good enough . .  .

Bejzment, Prague

Mrs got the ribs, which is the largest serve we've ever seen, including the monster rack I got at Hard Rock Cafe . . . good enuf, but NO sauce . . . the ones we took home and reheated with our Jack Daniels Hot BBQ sauce were even more excellent . . . cole slaw is not creamy, so excellent . . . I did the chef-y outline of ketchup on the plate, for the fries underneath.
didn't even taste like a lamb burger, but when it repeated on me, THEN i got the lamb flavor . . . no fries . . . I ate Mrs' . . . too much white sauce, whatever it is . . . I would ask for that off or on the side next time . . . bun held together very well, anyway . . .

we found out after-the-fact that they have jalapeno poppers, which we'll have to try next time, for sure.
